PSO-003 - Lieutenant of Operations - Public Safety Office

Portland State University (PSU) is seeking a full-time unclassified Lieutenant of Operations to provide public safety services for a diverse campus. Services include working with directors of administration, academic and student services in managing the safety needs and the university community.  This position reports to the Director of Public Safety.

 

There is also a comprehensive PSU benefits package (refer to HRC website). Employees receive reduced tuition at all seven institutions within the Oregon University System. This benefit can be transferred to one dependent (i.e., spouse, domestic partner, dependent child, or domestic partner's dependent child). Required Qualifications

•  Baccalaureate Degree (preferable with an emphasis in Administration of Justice/Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or other related fields).

•  Five (5) years of managerial experience in a Public Safety, Law Enforcement, or similar profession.

•  Completion of or eligible for:

•  Valid Oregon Driver's License
•  CPR Certification
•  Oregon State Dept. of Public Safety Standards and Training Basic Course
•  No Criminal Record – Must successfully complete a background check

Preferred Qualifications

•  Master's Degree (preferable with an emphasis in Administration of Justice/Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or other related fields).

•  Ten (10) years of managerial experience in a Public Safety, Law Enforcement, or similar profession.

•  Experience with all aspects of community policing in an urban environment.

•  Understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural diversity of an urban university.
