The
Division of Public Administration in the Mark O. Hatfield
School of Government at Portland State University is seeking
to fill one tenure/tenure track position at the rank of
Assistant or Associate Professor beginning Fall 2009 to
teach in the MPA program. We seek faculty with expertise
in any of the following areas of interest:
- Nonprofit Management
and Leadership – including nonprofit management, governance,
leadership, nonprofit finance and/or community engagement.
- Philanthropy and nonprofit
studies – including volunteerism, voluntary action,
social capital generation and charitable giving.
- International Nonprofit/NGO
Studies – including nonprofit management and leadership
in a global context.
The
successful candidate is also expected to be able to teach
in the PA core. In addition, the capacity to provide leadership
for public service programs such as the existing Institute
for Nonprofit Management is highly desirable.
Candidates
are expected to have the following qualifications:
- Expertise in policy,
philanthropy, governance, leadership, and management
of nonprofit organizations.
- Earned doctorate in a
relevant discipline (by Fall 2009).
- Developing or established
record of published scholarship and self-funded activity.
- Competence in teaching
graduate students.
- Developing or demonstrated
history of community involvement and collaboration.
The
Institute for Nonprofit Management is one of the oldest
in the country. Expected institute-based activities may
include academic degree and certificate course work, applied
community-based research, and/or leadership development
programs designed to meet the needs of domestic and international
nonprofit agencies. Further information on the Institute
