Appointment Type

Full-time, Unclassified Excluded, 12-month annual appointment through June 30, 2009, 100% grant-funded

 

Salary Range

The starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $52,000-$70,000 dependant on qualifications and experience with an excellent benefits package including fully paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependant at any of the Oregon University System schools. Position Summary

The Director is the lead position within the state level Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education (OCCD). The Director has primary responsibility for all core administrative operations including personnel management for eleven employees and financial management for $1.8 million biennial budget. Work is performed in an office environment of joint decision-making with advice and guidance from state advisory committees. Work is performed with considerable latitude and independence under the general guidance of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This position is self-supervising and works from general mission, goals, and grant and budgetary limitations with direct accountability and responsibility for final results. This position includes some in state and out of state travel and weekend and evening commitments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in fields related to childhood care and education from an accredited institution
  • Five years professional experience in administration and management
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in each of the five listed areas of responsibility of the position
  • Demonstration of ongoing professional development
  • Evidence of the highest professional standards, ethics, and values
  • Active participation in professional associations at regional, state, or national levels
  • Presentations or written contributions to the professional body of knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Finalists must have a current valid drivers license and successfully complete a criminal background check 

 

Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated Accomplishment in Areas of Responsibility

  • Financial Management: may include experience in grant and contract development, negotiation, monitoring and compliance; resource development and grant writing; budget development and Monitoring
  • Personnel Management: may include experience in staffing design and development; recruitment and selection; supervision, evaluation, and support; teamwork
  • System Development and Implementation: may include experience in visioning; comprehensive system development, integration, and monitoring; strategic planning and review  
  • Program Management: may include experience in program and policy development; data review and analysis; report and program evaluation
  • Collaboration and Communication: may include experience in professional leadership; building and enhancing partner relationships; problem solving and negotiation; information campaign development; communication with constituent groups; public presentation; adult education and curricula instruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in fields related to child hood care and education from an accredited institution
  • Advanced leadership in professional associations as indicated by elective or appointive offices held, awards, honors, and/or commendations
  • Professional and scholarly growth reflected in research and publication, program development, and other creative endeavors
  • Knowledge of and participation in state child care and education professional development systems
