- Assistant Professor of Arabic – Department of Foreign
Languages and Literatures – Tenure Track
Position
Summary
The
Assistant Professor of Arabic will be a member of the Arabic
Section of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
Working with the Head of the Arabic Section, the Assistant
Professor of Arabic will participate in the development
and delivery of a new undergraduate major in Arabic language
and literature. Members of the Department are expected to
be active in teaching and in community outreach and to be
active scholars within their own area of academic interest
Duties
& Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses
in Arabic language, literature and culture
- Participate in supervising
lower-division language instruction and program development
- Serve on Department and
University Committees
- Attend the appropriate
events in the area of Arabic studies
- Supervise Graduate Teaching
Assistants
- Advise undergraduate
students of Arabic major
- Be active in community
outreach
Minimum
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Arabic literature
or linguistics or in a related field
- Native or near-native
fluency in both Standard and Spoken Arabic
- Experience in proficiency-oriented
language instruction
- Demonstrated commitment
to scholarship and research
